Strengthening Psychological Health in High Schools

In September 2020, the World Health Organisation released a report on Adolescent Mental Health, noting that:

  • Globally, depression is one of the leading causes of illness and disability among adolescents, and suicide is one of the leading causes of death in 15-19-year-olds.

  • Not addressing adolescent mental health conditions has consequences that extend to adulthood, impairing both physical and mental health and limiting opportunities to lead fulfilling lives as adults.

The Flourishing World Programme recognises that in addition to treating existing mental health problems, it is vitally important to prevent mental health problems from developing in the first place, and to promote optimal wellbeing and flourishing. This in turn facilitates learning - Student wellbeing is a prerequisite for all learning.

Teacher wellbeing is just as important for the entire school environment to  flourish.

Using the BLOOM™ framework (described in Our Method), our team of interdisciplinary experts has developed a number of workshop themes for high school students and teachers, shifting the focus from ME to WE in order to enhance the wellbeing of all. Specific workshop content and format can be customised to meet specific school needs, with some options found below.
